Associate Software Engineer
Our client, a leading asset management firm based in Boston, MA, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Associate Software Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where technology plays a key role in the firm’s success. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing high-quality software, a strong understanding of modern development practices, and a desire to contribute to a high-performing team. This position requires 3 days per week onsite in Boston.
Responsibilities:
- Develop clean, well-structured, and maintainable code in accordance with industry best practices
- Write comprehensive unit tests to ensure the software meets the highest quality standards and has sufficient test coverage
- Perform peer code reviews to maintain coding quality, consistency, and shared learning across the team
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering standards and best practices by staying up-to-date with industry trends and methodologies
- Collaborate regularly with your squad, including the Squad Lead, Business Analyst, Quality Engineer, and other Software Engineers
- Communicate effectively with internal business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet business needs and project requirements
- Support cloud migration projects and work to modernize legacy systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, with hands-on experience in both backend and frontend development
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python (or other widely adopted languages)
- Exposure to frontend development using Vue.js or a similar modern JavaScript framework
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture, ideally AWS
- Experience with Linux environments and scripting
- Proficient in SQL, with the ability to retrieve, analyze, and store data from relational databases
- Experience with ETL tools like Snaplogic, or similar data integration and workflow tools
- Familiarity with Charles River Development (CRD) IMS/OMS systems is a plus
- Exposure to financial services and asset management platforms
